The Indoor Radon Abatement Act (IRAA) of 1988
authorized EPA to establish four Regional Radon Training Centers (RRTC).
These RRTCs:
Serves Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland,
Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode
Island, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia (13 states and DC).
"...Our mission is to provide training regarding health
risks posed by radon and other indoor environmental hazards and to
demonstrate methods of radon measurement and mitigation in residential,
institutional, and commercial environments. ERRTC collaborates with EPA,
States, industry, our sister Training Centers, and national certifying
bodies to create a network of programs and outreach materials for our
clients to offer the highest quality in radon measurement and mitigation
information and services. The ERRTC is located at Rutgers University
in New Brunswick, NJ and is part of the Department of Environmental Sciences
at Cook College. Courses are offered throughout EPA Regions I, II and III,
covering New England, the mid-Atlantic, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin
Islands. The ERRTC has also provided training at several locations in
Western Europe. We reach a full national and international audience with our
growing library of distance education courses." (from ERRTCs "About Us")

"The Midwest
Universities Radon Consortium (MURC) is one of four U.S. EPA Regional Radon
Training Centers (RRTC's) established in 1988. The mission of the Regional
Radon Training Centers is to provide training to public offcials, non-profit
and private firms, and the public regarding the health risks posed by radon
and to demonstrate methods of radon measurement and mitigation in
residential, educational, and other environments. MURC collaborates with the
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), States, partner RRTC's,
industry, National Radon Safety Board (NRSB), and the National Environmental
Health Association (NEHA) to create a network of programs and outreach
materials for our clients and to offer the highest quality training in radon
measurement, mitigation, and indoor air quality. MURC is located at
and managed by the University of Minnesota. Courses are offered in Indiana,
Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Kansas State University is a
member of MURC and offers courses in Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska." (from
