Next Hotline Training:    TBA

To get confidential treatment information by phone call the Project Inform National HIV/AIDS Treatment Hotline at 800-822-7422 (toll-free in the United States) or 415-558-9051 (in the San Francisco Bay Area or internationally). Hotline hours are Monday, Wednesday–Friday, 9am–4pm and Tuesday, 9am–7pm (Pacific Time).

The Hotline is staffed by volunteer operators (most of whom are HIV positive themselves), who can answer your questions on HIV treatments and related diseases. Hotline operators undergo an intensive training program and receive ongoing education to maintain their knowledge about treatment options. If calling for the first time, ask the operator to mail you an Introductory Packet containing basic information on HIV disease and the immune system, developing a productive doctor/patient relationship, various treatment options, and other issues that are important to people affected by HIV disease.

Operators can also talk with you about treatment issues and mail PI publications on a wide range of topics including PCP prevention, Anti-hiv Therapy Strategies, viral load, opportunistic infections, nutrition, immune restoration and Project Inform’s journal, PI Perspective.

If you need a more extensive answer or have a question we’re unable to answer right away, we also have a vast library of resources which covers many topics. We can photocopy articles from our offline files and mail them to you. Simply call the Project Inform Hotline.

Where does this information come from? Fortunately new information in AIDS is developing rapidly. Treatment strategies change based on the information available. With over 12 years of experience as an HIV/AIDS treatment information and advocacy organization, Project Inform staff and volunteers have developed a unique system of information collection and dissemination. Most often our treatment information comes from data collected by direct interaction with researchers and scientists involved in clinical trials and drug development. Public policy information comes from direct interaction with government officials and agencies and activists from other AIDS policy organizations.

The Hotline staff works with Project Inform’s Publications, Advocacy and Public Policy Departments to develop material based on the latest available information and your information needs. All of this information is free of charge but we do encourage donations.
