CHICAGO (June 18, 2004) -- U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Region 5 has settled a complaint against American Progressive Circuits
Inc. of Addison, Ill., for violations of the federal law governing
hazardous waste and used oil. The company admitted to all of the
violations and agreed to pay a $22,000 penalty and to comply with
all hazardous waste storage rules.
EPA cited American Progressive Circuits for six violations of
the federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, including failure
to: obtain tank assessments and properly maintain secondary containment
for its hazardous waste storage tanks, have a hazardous waste storage
permit, conduct required inspections, train personnel about hazardous
waste handling procedures, keep a contingency plan at the facility,
and properly label a used oil container.
EPA regulates hazardous waste from its production to final disposal.
