Description:
The emphasis of this 5-day course is on basic geomorphic form and process of fluvial systems. Course work is structured into lectures to introduce topics with some problem solving.
Topics include an understanding of the drainage basin as functional geomorphic unit; stream equilibrium, stability, and instability; hydraulic geometry; sediment transport and development of river morphology; riparian process and function;
and stream classification systems. The course is presented in a framework that allows students from various backgrounds to integrate material appropriate to individual interests or local physiographic environments. |
Course
