Description

The President's Committee on Mental Retardation (PCMR) advises the President and the Secretary of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on appropriate ways to provide services for citizens with mental retardation and on ways to prevent this type of disability. Areas of concern are full citizenship, prevention of biomedical and environmental causes of retardation, community support services, international activities, and public information. The PCMR sponsors forums and conferences and prepares an annual report to the President.

Publications include annual reports, conference reports, and program descriptions on such topics as legal rights of persons with mental retardation. A publications list is available.
