Description

The Family Resource Center on Disabilities provides assistance to parents of children with disabilities in order to assure that these children have access to the full range of services and benefits available to them, and serves as an advocate for these children. The Center conducts training sessions and workshops for parents of children with disabilities. The Center also publishes a variety of fact sheets on issues of particular concern to parents of children with disabilities, particularly with regard to educational rights and opportunities for children with disabilities, and economic matters such as social security and tax deductions.

Print Resources

The Family Resource Center on Disabilitiespublishes handbooks and fact sheets on issues of concern to the parents of handicapped children. Some are available in Spanish. The Center has also published manuals on organizing parent-advocacy groups and on getting services for children with disabilities. Serial publication: Family Resource Center Newsletter, monthly--news on special education, mental health, national and State legislation, and advice for parents.
