Description

The Federation for Children with Special Needs is a coalition of parents' organizations in Massachusetts concerned with a variety of disabling conditions and the lead center of a national network of parent centers. The Federation works to increase health professionals' awareness of concerns for families of children with special health needs; increase families' understanding of how medical systems work; and to encourage collaboration between parents and professionals in medical decision-making and health care services. Training Workshops are provided for parents on their basic rights and on the transitional phases of their child's life as well as on due process.

Print Resources

The Federation produces fact sheets and bibliographies for parents of children with disabilities on such topics as surgery, collaboration with health professionals, medical tests, special education legislation, and parents rights and responsibilities concerning their youngster's education.
