Description

La Leche League International (LLLI) was created to give help and encouragement to those mothers who want to breastfeed their babies. LLLI provides education to women through monthly guided discussions, telephone assistance, breastfeeding resource centers, the internet, and publications. LLLI provides help with problems concerning the management of lactation and operates a 24-hour hotline for emergencies. LLLI sponsors international conferences, seminars for physicians, and lactation consultant workshops and maintains the Center for Breastfeeding Information, the largest medical breastfeeding library in the world.

Print Resources

LLLI publishes many books, (including The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding The Breastfeeding Answer Book), pamphlets, and a video on topics such as breastfeeding, child care and the family, prenatal and childbirth information, information geared to professionals, and the psychology of the newborn. Several League publications are available in many languages and/or in Braille. Serial publications: New Beginnings: A Breastfeeding magazine for Parents, bimonthly; Leaven (magazine) bimonthly--an inter-League publication that keeps League Leaders informed; and Breastfeeding Abstracts, quarterly--from current medical literature on breastfeeding.
