EPA ISSUES FEDERAL FACILITIES MULTI-MEDIA
ENFORCEMENT/COMPLIANCE INITIATIVE

EPA's Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance has issued the Federal Facilities Multi-Media Enforcement/Compliance Initiative (FMECI): Interim Report. The report, developed by the Federal Facilities Enforcement Office, is a first-year progress report that outlines the results of FY 1993 multi-media inspections and related follow-up actions, and provides both national highlights as well as region-specific summaries. The initiative marks the first time that EPA has utilized a comprehensive, agency-wide program to address multi-media enforcement and compliance issues focused on one sector of the regulated community. EPA and participating states conducted 41 multi-media investigations across the nation resulting in 75 enforcement actions. The investigations were conducted at Department of Defense facilities, Department of Energy facilities and a number of civilian federal agency facilities.
