Decision science has broad implications for all sectors of our society. It plays a role in understanding outcomes in financial markets of assessing the role of a centralized matching system in ensuring a stable supply of medical school graduates to hospital residency programs. Among the many questions that NSF-funded decision science researchers are attempting to answer: how people behave in economic environments, how information is distributed within economic institutions, and the influence of expectations and beliefs on decision making.
