NSF-supported Integrated Manufacturing Systems Laboratory (IMSL) at the University of Michigan is developing next-generation manufacturing systems that can be quickly reconfigured to adapt to changing market realities. Research focuses on open architecture controls, reconfigurable machining systems, and sensor-based monitoring systems. Here, graduate students demonstrate their work in the lab during a visit by NSF officials.
