Washington, Dec 2 - Republican Study Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-GA) released the following statement as the House of Representatives debated a Democrat plan to ensure that taxes rise next year for many families and small businesses.

“At a time of rampant unemployment, Democrats want to take job-creating capital away from families, investors, and small businesses,” said Chairman Price.  “This tax hike will create major new headwinds for our economy.  Over the last two years, the Democrats’ refusal to confront the tax question has left families and businesses unable to plan for the future.  The incredible uncertainty about rising taxes has led countless employers to delay hiring and expansion.  Now a very real tax increase threatens to compound the damage already wrought by political indecision.”

“I strongly urge this lame duck majority to stop playing class-warfare politics and allow a clean vote to keep taxes at their current level.  We need to encourage job creation and success, not punish it.”
