Homelessness Resources: Self-care for Providers

Self-care resources are available to help homeless service providers who experience feelings of anxiety and sadness during the course of their work.

Working with individuals and families experiencing homelessness can be rewarding. However, helping clients with the challenges they may face can also be extremely demanding. Homeless service providers may often feel a sense of sadness, powerlessness, and anger during the course of their work. Tension often exists between feeling inspired by the work and feeling frustrated about the things outside of one’s control. To provide clients the best care and services, providers must also take care of themselves.
