Fossil Energy

Through R&D partnerships with the private sector, the Office of Fossil Energy is developing advanced coal, oil and natural gas technologies that can meet the Administration’s Clear Skies and Climate Change goals (to reduce air pollution and carbon emissions) and strengthen the nation’s energy security.  The Office also oversees the Strategic Petroleum and Northeast Home Heating Oil Reserves that can provide emergency fuel supplies to consumers during energy shortages.
