About Us
This
node is a regional information network of the NBII intended to provide
access to information and services relevant to forest resources
in the Pacific Northwest. It is one of a series of regional
NBII nodes that were recommended in the report "Teaming
with Life: Investing in Science to Understand and Use America’s
Living Capital", presented to the President in March 1998
by the President’s Committee of Advisers on Science and Technology,
Panel on Biodiversity and Ecosystems.
For
more general information about the Pacific Northwest Information
Node, please see our fact sheet
(in PDF format).
If
you are using the NBII Metadata Clearinghouse, metadata for Pacific
Northwest Information Node projects can be found in the metadata
node listed as "Forest
Aquatic and Rangeland ecosystems in Western USA"
For
information about management of eastside forests, visit the Interior
Columbia Basin Ecosystem Management Project (ICBEMP). In July
1993, President Clinton directed the Forest Service to "develop
a scientifically sound and ecosystem-based strategy for management
of eastside forests." Responding to this direction, the ICBEMP was initiated by the Forest
Service and the Bureau of Land Management.
You

who are collaborating to create this node, and browse related

The
Pacific Northwest Information Node is collaborating with the IUFRO's
Global Forest Information Service,
which is working to put together a world-wide forestry information
system.
