Resources for Teaching Research Ethics - provided by the Research Ethics Program, University of California, San Diego. The site contains online training, articles, guidelines, and other educational materials.

Teaching Research Ethics - a three-day workshop at Indiana University-Bloomington. Topics include ethical theory, human subjects, animal subjects, responsible data management, misconduct in science, using case studies, using short writing assignments, assessing student learning, and model curricula in research ethics.

Research Responsibility Program, University of Michigan - A series of information and discussion sessions on responsibility in the conduct and administration of research meant to serve as a springboard for local discussions. The sessions emphasize ethical analysis and problem solving using a case study approach.

Survival Skills and Ethics Program, University of Pittsburgh - A series of one-day intensive workshops. Discussions of responsible conduct are integrated into the instruction, as are issues of particular relevance to minorities and women.

Organizations

The Office of Research Integrity (ORI) - of the Department of Health and Human Services. Site includes publications, regulations and guidelines, information on whistleblower issues, and case studies and data.

ORI Listservs- ORI has created three listserves to foster discussion and networking among institutional officials and others interested in preventing research misconduct, teaching the responsible conduct of research (RCR), or conducting research on research integrity.  To join the institutional official listserv, send an email to the list manager at instlist@osophs.dhhs.org.

Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R;) - a national organization dedicated to providing a multidisciplinary forum for addressing biomedical and bioethical issues.  PRIM&R holds national meetings on human subject protections and animal issues.

Applied Research Ethics National Association (ARENA) - partner to PRIM&R - contains links to resources and provides information related to the application of ethical principles, governmental regulations, and other policies involved with research and clinical practice.

Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society - a non-profit membership society of more than 80,000 scientists. In addition to publishing American Scientist, Sigma Xi awards grants annually to promising young researchers, holds forums on critical issues at the intersection of science and society and sponsors a variety of programs supporting honor in science and engineering, science education, science policy and the public understanding of science.
