OPNAV N45 Environmental Readiness Division

This site give details about the US Navy’s numerous environmental programs. These programs include: Shore Environmental Quality, Ship and Air Systems, Environmental Restoration, Operational Environmental Compliance and Planning, Stewardship, Artic Military Environmental Cooperation, and many more programs..

Defense Environmental Network & Information Exchange (DENIX)

DENIX serves as a central platform for the dissemination of environment, safety and occupational health (ESOH) news, policy, and guidance within Department of Defense (DoD) activities worldwide, in support of the national defense mission. DENIX informs ESOH professionals of salient issues and provides them with tools to sustain their readiness and compliance efforts with Congressional and DoD requirements.

Navy Environmental Leadership Program (NELP)

NELP was established by the Chief of Naval Operations to find new and innovative ways to manage Navy environmental programs. Two shore installations were designated to perform the NELP mission. On the west coast, Naval Air Station (NAS) North Island in Coronado, California, was chosen. On the east coast, the selected base was Naval Station Mayport, Florida. This site gives details about the initiatives pursued by NELP at each of these locations.

CNO N454 Navy Occupational Safety and Health

The goals of the Navy Occupational Safety and Health (NAVOSH) Program are to prevent fatalities, injuries and illness; reduce severity of mishaps; and improve operational readiness. The NAVOSH program is comprised of a number of elements that target key areas such as compliance, training, and hazard control and elimination.

Range and Readiness Preservation Initiative (RRPI)

This site on DENIX presents information regarding the DoD’s requests for legislative changes to environmental laws. The site provides links to the legislative language, questions and answers, fact sheets, and much more.

Deputy Undersecretary of Defense (Installations and Environment)

The DUSD (I&E) is responsible for all of the DoD’s environmental programs. The site provides links to programs falling under the DUSD (I&E)’s purview.

Navy Shipboard Environmental Information Clearinghouse

The site provides links to policies and procedures for ensuring environmental compliance onboard ships.

Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center’s Environmental Services

NFESC works to develop and implement new P2 technologies. They are also a leader in installation restoration. This site provides information about their different products and services.

Joint Services Pollution Prevention (P2) Library

The Joint Service P2 Technical Library is the single comprehensive resource for information on equipment, technologies, and management practices that reduce or eliminate the generation, disposal, and release of pollutants at joint service installations. The P2 Technical Library is an excellent source of the lessons learned and success stories throughout the joint services, and is useful for researching pollution prevention opportunities during P2 plan development and other projects.

Hazardous Substance Management System (HSMS) Program

The program provides installations with an automated tool (HSMS) to facilitate the management of their Hazardous Materials (HM) and Hazardous Waste (HW), with cradle-to-grave tracking from receipt of such materials by the installation through actual disposal/disposition. The HSMS software also assists in the generation of reports as required and/or mandated by federal and state environmental agencies.

Perchlorate

This DENIX site provides information about the DoD’s position on perchlorate. It also provides information about treatment technologies and toxicology.

Department of the Navy’s Cultural Resources Program

Protection of the nation's heritage is an essential part of the Department of the Navy (DON) mission - defense of the people, territory, institutions and heritage of the United States. The DON Cultural Resources Program addresses five categories of cultural resources that fall under naval stewardship.

FY02 Defense Environmental Restoration Program (DERP) Annual Report

This site provides information on the progress and initiatives of DoD's cleanup program for Fiscal Year 2002. The Department of Defense hopes this report provides stakeholders a better understanding of the DERP to enable them to assist DoD in guiding the environmental restoration program to completion.

Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune - Environmental Management Division

The Environmental Management Division (EMD) is the principal staff assistant to the Commanding General for matters pertaining to compliance with environmental regulatory requirements. The site provides information about Camp Lejeune’s various environmental programs including: Stormwater management, installation restoration, cultural resources, water quality, threatened and endangered species, forestry, recycling, and other on-going efforts.

Joint Group on Pollution Prevention (JG-PP)

JG-PP is a partnership between the Military Services, NASA, and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), chartered by the Joint Logistics Commanders (JLC) to reduce or eliminate HazMats or processes within the acquisition and sustainment communities. By establishing these partnerships, JG-PP addresses the common problems through shared efforts to produce joint solutions.
