H-Series CD-ROM

The H-Series CD-ROM product contains the following Cataloging Handbooks: H2, Federal Supply Classification(FSC); H3, DoD Ammunition Codes; H4/H8, Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) Codes; H5, Corporate Complex Data; and H6, Federal Item Name Directory (FIND).

The H-Series is published in its entirety monthly on CD-ROM. Each product supersedes previous editions, and installation is required each month. The H-Series is one disc which can be installed in either DOS or Windows (16 BIT and 32 BIT).

H2 - Federal Supply Classification (FSC)
The Federal Supply Classification (FSC) and its Index have been developed and adopted by the Office of the Secretary of Defense for use in classifying items of supply identified under the Federal Catalog System.

The FSC is a commodity classification designed to serve the functions of supply, and is sufficiently comprehensive in scope to permit the classification of all items of personal property. In order to accomplish this, groups and classes have been established for the universe of commodities, with emphasis on the items known to be in the supply systems of the Federal Government.

You can search the H2 by entering the FSC, FSG or Title. Results of specific searches are output on a Results List, identifying FSC or FSG and Title. From here the highlighted item is displayed, providing all related data elements.

H3 - DoD Ammunition Codes (AMMO)
The Department of Defense Ammunition Codes (DoDACs) have been developed by the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the military departments to provide uniform, centrally assigned code numbers for generic descriptions applicable to items of supply identified under the Federal Catalog System in Federal Supply Classification Group 13 (Ammunition and Explosives) and Group 14 (Guided Missiles).

DoDAC numbers and generic descriptions are required for all items of supply within Federal Supply Classification Group 13, except repair parts and industrial components. Items of supply within Federal Supply Classification Group 14, meeting the criteria for the assignment of National Stock Numbers (NSNs), may be assigned DoD code numbers when requested by the respective Services.

H4/H8 - Commercial And Gov't Entity Codes (CAGE)
The CAGE publication is designed to provide users with the name, address, and socioeconomic data on all manufacturers and non- manufacturers doing business with the Federal Government.

The organizations contained in this publication are of three types: Government design control activities, manufacturers and non-manufacturers. They are uniquely identified by a five (5) position CAGE Code or a NATO Supply Code for Manufacturers (NSCM), and categorized by an Organizational Entity (OE) Type Code.

You can search the H4/H8 by entering the CAGE, Status Code, Type Code, Company Name, City, State, ZIP Code, Postal Zone, Country or CAO Code. Results of specific searches are output on a Results List, identifying CAGE, Company Name and State. From here the highlighted item is displayed, providing all related data elements.

H5 - Corporate Complex Data (CAGE/NSCM)
The H5 shows the corporate complex structure of commercial entities assigned a five-digit Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) Code or NATO Supply Code for Manufacturers (NSCM). The corporate complex structure includes a parent company and all affiliated companies with an assigned CAGE/NSCM. A common numbering system between parent and affiliated company(s) may or may not exist. Commercial entities not in a corporate complex structure do not appear in the H5.

The H5 contains a wide range of data elements from the Organizational Entity (O.E.) database.

You can search the H5 by entering the Association CAGE, CAGE, Company Name, State, ZIP Code, Postal Zone and Country. Results of specific searches are output on a Results List, identifying CAGE, Association CAGE, Company Name and State. From here the highlighted item is displayed, providing all related data elements.

H6 - Federal Item Name Directory (ITEM NAME)
The H6 is published to provide item name data for the development and maintenance of item identifications within the Federal Catalog System.

This publication contains Approved Item Names (AINs), Basic Names, and Colloquial Names and definitions with their associated Federal Supply Classifications (FSCs), Condition Codes, Federal Item Identification Guides (FIIGs), Applicability Key, Concept Number and Item Name Codes (INCs).

You can search the H6 by entering the INC, Item Name, FIIG, FSC and IMM. Results of specific searches are output on a Results List, identifying INC, FIIG and Item Name. From here the highlighted item is displayed, providing all related data elements.
