Programs
The
Office of Credit Union Development is responsible for the administration
of several programs designed to establish, strengthen, and improve
the operation of small and low-income designated credit unions.
Community
Development Revolving Loan Program(PDF)
The
Community Development Revolving Loan Fund Program (in PDF) (CDRLP) was established to support low-income designated credit unions serving
low-income communities. Low-interest loans/deposits are made
available to
assist these credit unions in delivering financial services to
their members and improve their long - term growth and stability.

Technical
Assistance
Technical Assistance (TA) takes the
form of a grant from the Community Development Revolving Loan
Fund Program. The interest generated from the Loan Program is
available to make grants to low income designated credit unions.
Grants are available
for improving operations as well as addressing safety and soundness issues.
TAG Grant Initiatives (TAG)
NCUA has $1 million dollars available to assist low-income
designated credit unions educate members, strengthen infrastructure,
develop and implement new services and augment partnerships with
other organizations and agencies. The following list provides links

Chartering
New LICUs
OCUD collaborates with
regional NCUA staff, trade groups, communities,
and other associational groups to establish newly
chartered
low-income designated credit unions.
Low-income
Designation
Credit
Unions designated as low-income (LICU) may accept
non-member deposits, participate in the Community
Development Revolving Loan Program, accept secondary
capital funds and receive technical assistance.
Credit
unions may request and obtain low-income designations.
These credit unions are eligible for a number of
benefits such as the Revolving
Loan program. To obtain a list of low-income

Student
Internships(PDF)
OCUD
administers a College Student Internship Program
matching junior and senior students with low-income
designated credit unions. The Program is designed
to create a pool of experienced people who can work
in various areas of credit unions and eventually
help to alleviate the shortage of skilled managers
in small credit unions. The program also fosters mentoring between larger and smaller credit unions which serves to strengthen
the credit union industry overall.
