Deputy Administrator's Welcome to the FHWA R&T Website

Welcome to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Research and Technology (R&T) Web site. This Web site continues FHWA's roles as Innovators for a Better Future, and leaders of the national R&T partnership initiative. Serving as a focal point for agency-wide R&T information, this site will be the umbrella R&T site for FHWA. FHWA will continue to develop this Web site and other sites related to different functional areas.

The site includes the FHWA Corporate Master Plan for Research and Deployment of Technology & Innovation (CMP) published in 2003. With input from our stakeholders, the CMP was framed around 7 Guiding Principles and 26 Agency Commitments. With the adoption of the CMP, the R&T Leadership Team formally took on the responsibility of improving agency-wide business as related to research and the deployment of technology and innovation.

We have moved from the planning stages to implementing the 26 Agency Commitments listed in the CMP. The FHWA R&T Leadership Team holds the lead role of implementing the Agency Commitments, and of working more effectively with our stakeholders to deploy and implement technologies and innovations.

A springboard to and from FHWA's R&T functional areas, this site contains topics of interest including the latest list of FHWA Priority, Market-Ready, Technologies and Innovations. Check back often for periodic updates on progress being made on implementing the Agency Commitments.

This site supports the implementation of the CMP Guiding Principle #7, "The FHWA effectively communicates its R&T program and projects." We encourage you to provide feedback through the e-mail link provided below.
