NIH Public Liaison Offices

Public Liaison Offices are set up in each NIH Institute and Center and in the Office of NIH Director that

  • Conduct outreach to constituency groups

  • Serve as a contact point for the public, especially with regard to policy matters

  • Provide a place for members of Congress to refer constituents

NIH Director's Council of Public Representatives (COPR)

A public forum for discussing such key NIH issues as

  • Priority setting

  • Clinical trials and managed care

  • Privacy and genetics

  • Health disparities among various populations

COPR members review and advise on NIH priorities and mechanisms for public input to NIH decisions.

Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP)
