University of Montana Partnership Program Presentation

On Monday, August 3, 2004, University of Montana students, Andrea Helling, Justin Baker and Amanda Spannuth spoke about the experience of studying in Georgia to Tbilisi Institute faculty before their return to the United States. The American students explained the challenges and pleasures of studying Georgian, Arabic and Persian in Georgia in a closing presentation to Dr. Guram Chikovani, the Rector of Tbilisi Institute of Asia & Africa, members of the faculty and to a U.S. Embassy representative, Aron Liptak. The three University of Montana students were able to participate in this program as a result of a partnership program between the University of Montana, the Tbilisi Institute of Asia & Africa and Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli State University, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. In addition, the program gives the opportunity for Georgian faculty to study at the University of Montana and for University of Montana faculty members to teach in Georgia.
