Critical Information

As the Regimental Family Readiness Officer (FRO), I need to discuss a very important issue: Emergency Contact Information. Part of my duty as the FRO is to be able to quickly pass vital and emergency information to the spouses of deployed Marines and Sailors. With today's technology and the high number of families moving from one location to another, it is extremely difficult to maintain accurate rosters of telephone and address information.

I cannot over-stress the importance of keeping the Remain Behind Element of 1st Marine Regiment knowledgeable of your current telephone number and address for emergency contact. Even with a proactive Key Volunteer Network, our rosters get out dated very quickly.

It is important that your Primary Key Volunteer Network contact or Family Readiness Officer is kept abreast of:

                 a. Your current telephone number.
                 b. Secondary telephone number such as a cell phone if available.
                 c. Home address.
                 d. Mailing address (if different from home address).
                 e. Work address, telephone number & work schedule.
                 f. Neighbor or friend's name and telephone number.

Although this may seem like we are trying to obtain too much personal information, this information will be safeguarded and not released except to proper authorities. By providing this information to your KV Network or FRO, we will be able to contact you for passing critical and emergency information.

If you are hesitant to provide this information to your Key Volunteer Network, you can provide that information to me. As the Regimental Family Readiness Officer, I will secure this information and only use it if and when the time comes necessary.

When not deployed, your Marine and Sailor is responsible for maintaining his Record of Emergency Data (RED) up to date at all times, but when he is deployed, it becomes the spouse's responsibility to ensure that she can be contacted in case of an emergency. If you move or change your address, please provide that new information to your Key Volunteer, or Battalion Family Readiness Officer (FRO).

Parents of Marines and Sailors should also notify the Battalion Family Readiness Officer if your address or telephone number changes. To contact the Battalion or Company associated with your Marine's unit please click here.
