	The battalion is responsible for recruiting young people from a 16,763 square mile portion of Illinois with a population of approximately 8.5 million. Consisting of five company headquarters and 29 recruiting stations, the battalion has 214 soldiers and 17 civilians. The battalion uses the Military Entrance Processing Station located in Des Plaines, Illinois. A contract recruiting company is also in the battalion's footprint with five stations manned by 26 civilian recruiters and ran by a company manager.
	INTERESTING FACTS In 2002, over 2,371 young people from northern Illinois were enlisted into the Active U.S. Army. In support of approximately 103 Army Reserve units and their detachments located throughout northern Illinois, the battalion enlisted 897 in the Army Reserve. In 2001, veterans spent $11,784,717 in college money in Illinois.
