the Cultural Attaché (Cultural Affairs Officer) and the Press Attaché
(Information Officer), as well as Nicaraguan national staff.
The Public Affairs Section works to strengthen and
develop U.S.-Nicaraguan relations by:
- Enunciating and explaining U.S. foreign policy,
while presenting the North American society in all its complexity so the
Nicaraguan people can gain a better comprehension of the United States.
- Creating, promoting and administering
educational and cultural exchange programs which improve relations and
increase understanding between the people of Nicaragua and the United
States.
To better accomplish these goals, the Office is divided
in two sections:
- The Press Section handles all relations between
the Embassy and the Nicaraguan, U.S., and international media,
responding to questions from the press, and providing information on
U.S. foreign policy and current issues. They arrange interviews with
U.S. government officials, and publicize all U.S. government activities
and programs in Nicaragua.
- The Cultural Section administers a variety of
educational exchange programs, including the International Visitor
Program, the U.S. Speakers and Specialists Program, and the Fulbright
