Over the years this has ranged from providing expert testimony at congressional committee hearings to organizing special workshops and briefings on Capitol Hill. Topics have ranged from terrorism to peacekeeping to human rights to strategies for managing, resolving, and preventing international conflicts in hot spots around the globe, such as Iraq, the Korean Peninsula, and the Balkans.

Institute Experts and Policy Analysis

Through fellowships, grants, and in-house research, the Institute mobilizes the best talent from around the world to provide policymakers with creative options to deal with international conflicts. This work has allowed the Institute to develop a distinguished list of leading experts on a wide assortment of issues. The Institute can help arrange events on Capitol Hill featuring Institute staff, fellows, and grantees (both present and past) as well as outside experts who have worked with the Institute over the years. Members of Congress or congressional staffers interested in speaking with these experts should contact Anne Hingeley in the Institute's Office of Congressional and Public Affairs at (202) 429-4175 or by e-mail at ahingeley@usip.org.

Briefings on Capitol Hill

The Institute holds public briefings and arranges special congressional staff briefings to raise awareness on various issues relating to resolving, managing, and preventing international conflicts. Recent events organized on Capitol Hill include a briefing on reconstructing Iraq and a workshop on the role of faith in promoting peace in the Middle East. In addition to its public meetings, the Institute also often arranges special off-the-record briefings for congressional members and staff to raise awareness on various issues relating to resolving, managing, and preventing international conflicts. For a full schedule of upcoming and recent public events please see the Institute's Events homepage. Members of Congress or congressional staffers interested in arranging an Institute briefing on Capitol Hill, attending an Institute public briefing, or otherwise participating in an Institute-sponsored event should contact Anne Hingeley for more information.
