This document should be used to create a formal GIS plan for park units.
Directions to complete this plan are highlighted in yellow, and should be
deleted once completed. Standard text that should be included in the final
draft of this plan is included in normal font. The Regional GIS Support
Office can help the park to develop this plan.

Recommended Park GIS Directory Structure[PDF]
Diagram depicting one approach to a file based GIS data structure. The scheme is based on grouping data thematically by the common park management divisions and allows data managers to set editing permissions easier. It is not a comprehensive scheme, but a good starting point.
