West Branch Iowa is located one minute from Interstate-80 and 15 minutes from Interstate-380. The downtown area includes a 16-building historic district. West Branch is the birthplace of Herbert Hoover, the 31st president of the United States. The Herbert Hoover Presidential Library, the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site (National Park Service) and the Herbert Hoover Library Association are all located in the historic area of the city. The Hoover complex offers many educational and cultural events and exhibits and comprises one of Iowa's most popular tourist attractions.

Every August, the Hoover complex hosts "Hooverfest," a weekend celebration that includes a spectacular fireworks extravaganza. Visit the Hoover Library Association's webpages for more information.

Also within the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site are a working replica of Herbert Hoover's father's blacksmith shop, a one-room schoolhouse and a restored Quaker Meeting house.

Hours for the Presidential Museum and the National Park are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year's Day, Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for seniors age 62 and older. Children age 15 and under are free.
