West Branch, Iowa Return to "Planning a Visit" West Branch Iowa is located one minute from Interstate-80 and 15 minutes from Interstate-380. The downtown area includes a 16-building historic district. West Branch is the birthplace of Herbert Hoover, the 31st president of the United States. The Herbert Hoover Presidential Library, the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site (National Park Service) and the Herbert Hoover Library Association are all located in the historic area of the city. The Hoover complex offers many educational and cultural events and exhibits and comprises one of Iowa's most popular tourist attractions.
