Federal
Civil Service employment benefits are an important attraction to working
for the Federal Government. These benefits are available to most employees
hired, depending on the type of appointment.
The retirement
benefits are a major part of the compensation package available
to employees. Another valuable component of the Federal benefits
package is the health and life insurance programs. Other attractions
to employment are the generous annual and sick leave benefits.
There are, of
course, other incentives available to attract candidates to working
for the Federal Government. But, the benefits on the chart are automatic
and pertain to the type of appointment. The other incentives available
are covered in the Recruitment Incentives
section of this web site, and are "negotiated"
incentives used to further entice applicants to accept positions
that are otherwise hard to fill.
Refer to the
benefits chart for applicable benefits
for the various types of appointments.
