Geospatial One-Stop buttonInternational I-Teams

An I-Team is a voluntary body of leaders representing all sectors of the geospatial community that meets in an open forum to plan, steward and implement the production, maintenance, and exchange of the community's information resources.

An I-Team engages in a collaborative process that organizes and coordinates a portion of America’s data assets. It identifies the most effective and efficient ways to produce and steward each portion of a state or region’s data assets. I-Teams help address the institutional barriers to implementation of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).

The I-Team network is an alliance of partnerships and collaborations. While the leadership of each geospatial community can justify the importance of particular datasets and applications, the political and business case for the NSDI needs to be made comprehensively, mindful of the value added by aligning and pooling investments through I-Teams.

States establish most I-Teams with leadership by State Chief Information Officers, Geographic Information Officers or GIS Coordinators. Regional city/county I-Teams may nest within their state I-Teams. Multi-state regions also may engage in the I-Team process.

I-Teams produce three to five year strategic plans (I-Plans). I-Team work does not end with the I-Plan. I-Teams have a continuing role to implement their plans and the NSDI.
