U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Council of Athabascan Tribal Governments, Sign Annual Funding Agreement

The U.S. Fish and Widlife Service (Service) and the Council of Athabascan Tribal Governments (CATG) signed an annual funding agreement on Friday, April 30, 2004, in Washington, D.C. Secretary of the Interior Gale A. Norton accepted and endorsed the Agreement and forwarded it to Congress for review. Under this agreement the CATG will perform some of the Service's activities on the Yukon Flats National Wildlife Refuge during 2004-2005. The Agreement will go into effect on August 1, 2004. Service Seeks Information from the Public on Murre (Seabird) Die-off (posted 03/25/04)
Based on reported public sightings of dead and sick murres, and reports of murres showing up in unusual places and acting strangely, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has begun an ongoing series of beach surveys to determine the scope of the problem.
