Pollution Prevention Resource Exchange
(P2Rx) Centers
The Pollution Prevention Resource Exchange (P2Rx) is a consortium of eight
regional pollution prevention information centers, funded in part through
grants from EPA. These centers all provide pollution prevention information,
networking opportunities and other services to States, local governments
and technical assistance providers in their region. The centers represent
a broad constituency, including state and local pollution prevention programs,
manufacturing extension partnerships, cooperative extension and nonprofit
organizations. The diversity of audience contributes to an overall breadth
of P2 information and opportunities.
For more information on the P2Rx Centers, visit their web site at http://www.p2rx.org.

Small Business Assistance Centers
In November 1993, the EPA and the Small Business Administration got together
to promote both economic growth and environmental compliance/pollution
prevention through assistance to small businesses. EPA provided funds
to the SBA for grants to support the development of 4 pilot environmental
programs in state (IA, TX, VA and WI) Small Business Development Centers
(SBDCs), as well as directly funding two state (in PA and VT) SBDC environmental
pilot projects.
The goal of the projects was to involve SBDCs more actively in providing
environmental assistance for the small businesses they serve. EPA prepared
this study to assess the results of these projects, and to learn how the
experience of these pilots might inform the design of future environmental
assistance efforts.
