In late 1996, the United States Congress passed landmark legislation creating the independent, nonprofit National Film Preservation Foundation, a public-private partnership to benefit the film preservation efforts of American film archives, historical societies and similar institutions. Visit the Web page of the private sector National Film Preservation Foundation for information on its programs and groundbreaking 11-hour DVD anthology, Treasures From American Film Archives. Then, scoot on over to the Association of Moving Image Archivists for more valuable information on moving image preservation. And, finally, don't miss Moving Image Collections (MIC), an innovative Web portal aiming to create the nation's first integrated online union catalog of moving images.
