SMG landing weather forecasts are updated 2 days before a launch through the end of a mission. Occasionally security
issues may delay posting of the forecasts. Around 9 hours prior to launch and landing, workload and technical
issues prevent forecast updates from being posted to the World Wide Web. If you are familiar with METAR or TAF
codes, you should be able to understand our forecasts; however, help interpreting our forecasts
is available. The Space Shuttle has strict landing weather requirements. A simplified version of the End-of-Mission requirements is
described here. Where are the Space Shuttle landing sites? Click here to find out where.
