Innovation Across EPA
About PDF files
For 30 years, EPA has been working for a cleaner, healthier environment
for the American people. Today, we are entering a new era of environmental
policy, one that embraces working with states, tribes, and the broader
environmental community to develop innovative approaches and tools.
Cutting edge technologies, public-private partnerships, and market-based
incentives are all hallmarks of this evolution. By employing a cooperative,
problem-solving approach, EPA is seeking to move beyond the limitations
of individual programs and toward a more integrated environmental
protection system that provides better environmental results for
all people.
EPA is committed to meeting the next generation of environmental
challenges using established means of problem solving along with
innovative new techniques and technologies. This innovation is taking
place throughout EPA.
EPA's commitment to innovation is supported by an Innovation Strategy that provides a framework for
pursuing innovations in all aspects of EPA's work.
The Recent Accomplishments section highlights
progress under the Strategy, and the Featured
Innovation showcases a single innovative tool or approach that
is particularly noteworthy.
The Evaluation and Change section discusses
the important steps that allow an innovation to take hold - to move
from the pilot stage to use on a larger scale.
The Innovation in EPA Regions section
lists innovative programs managed by EPA's regional offices. And
the Innovation in EPA National Programs
section is an alphabetic list of some of EPA's innovative national
programs.
EPA's Innovation Action Council
is the senior management team responsible for overseeing and promoting
innovation at EPA. Its members serve as a contact for external constituents
with interests in innovative ideas or approaches and as an advocate
for staff that want to pursue innovations within EPA programs.
On the Publications page you can find the
strategy, an accompanying Implementation Plan and other documents
related to the strategy.
