(Washington, D.C.) Today, Rep. Grace F. Napolitano (CA-32) voted in favor of H.R. 678, the Bureau of Reclamation Small Conduit Hydropower Development and Rural Jobs Act. Napolitano supported final passage of the bill after an amendment was adopted altering the controversial provision that would have waived the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for these projects. The bill ultimately passed by a vote of 416-7.

(Washington, D.C.) Today, during a floor debate in the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Grace F. Napolitano (CA-38) expressed her opposition to H.R. 2842, the Bureau of Reclamation Small Conduit Hydropower Development and Rural Jobs Act of 2011, because of the way it overrides critical environmental protections. Napolitano continues to support small-scale hydropower projects, but objected to the bill’s waiver of National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) environmental reviews before implementing such projects.
