As the public affairs arm of the U.S. Consulate, the Press Section
informs the media about U.S. policies through a wide variety of
services.
On the occasion of visits by high-level U.S. officials or delegations,
the Press Section organizes news conferences and support for the
international press accompanying the U.S. government officials.
Occasionally, exclusive interviews can be arranged for Pakistani media
with these visiting U.S. officials. In coordination with our Washington
offices, the Press Section also organizes video and tele-conferences.
Several documents are published daily, ranging from press releases to
inform the media of U.S. Embassy/Consulate and U.S. government
activities to full texts of important official documents such as
treaties, policy papers and speeches. Backgrounders and summaries of
U.S. views on important policy issues are also made available to media
institutions on a regular basis. The Washington
File, a daily updated full text database
of U.S. government documents, provides access to some of these texts. In
addition, the American Information
Resource Center provides in-depth research
assistance for media contacts.
In cooperation with the U.S. Foreign Press Center in Washington, the
press office also supports Pakistani media representatives in their
research in the United States.
