Did you know that millions of young people have an illness or disability?

Did you know?
There are many famous people with disabilities. Actors Tom Cruise and Keira Knightly, and Stephan Jenkins of Third Eye Blind, all have dyslexia. Click here to learn about others.

There are a lot of different kinds of illnesses and disabilities that kids and teens can have, and each one affects people in a different way.

You might have a chronic health problem, which means it lasts a long time.
You might be very sick for a few months and have to spend time in a hospital.
Your health problem might change or limit what you can do at school. Like, you may not be able to take gym class the same way other kids can if you have asthma or are in a wheelchair. Or, you might need extra time to take a test.
You might have to take medicine or use special equipment, such as a walker or wheelchair.

It can be hard for you to take care of your special needs, but you are not alone! Your friends and family are there to support you. And remember, there are many young women out there who have to take extra care of their health just like you.
