Commercial vehicle operations (CVO) work at NTRC includes research into
equipment and technologies for making commercial vehicles safer and more
efficient, including development of mobile platforms and educational/informational
resources relating to intelligent transportation systems (ITS).

Research
facilities include a laboratory at the Knox County, Tennessee, weigh station,
the second-busiest weigh station in the United States. It includes a high-speed
weigh-in-motion test laboratory, data feeds from Tennessee Department
of Safety facilities, and connections to the CVO home office via an ISDN
line.
