US Assistance to Romania

The United States Government has many assistance programs to help Romania, which are administered by the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Peace Corps both have active programs in the country. The Public Diplomacy Office has a number of programs in areas of Civil Society and Rule of Law, offers exchange programs, including the Fulbright Program, for Romanian professionals, academics and students and administers a Small Democracy Grant fund. The Department of Defense trains Romanian officers both in Romania and in the U.S. and offers other assistance. The FBI offers training for Romanian law enforcement officials, and the U.S. Department of Justice is working with Romanians on Rule of Law issues.
