Science is the foundation of the U.S. EPA's decision-making process. The Agency strives to ensure the scientific and technical foundation of its decisions are based on the best current knowledge and judged credible by those who deal with EPA.
EPA’s Science Inventory is a searchable, Agency-wide catalog of more than 4,000 science activities, such as research, technical assistance, and assessments, along with more than 750 peer-reviewed products. Additionally, the database contains more than 19,000 records in the archives.
Originally designed to help EPA scientists and managers coordinate the planning and development of science activities, the database provides information including project descriptions, products produced, types of peer review, links to related work, and contacts for additional information.
Public users, including private sector, State and local governments, and university researchers and scientists interested in the state-of-the-science at EPA now have access to this window of information to assist them in pursuing collaborative research efforts, developing research programs and obtaining technical information and assistance. Students and the general public will gain a better understanding and perspective of the role of science in supporting EPA’s mission to protect the environment. For further information on the Science Inventory, contact Paul Zielinski at (202) 564-6772 or at zielinski.paul@epa.gov.
