Attributes:
- Designed to contain threat hits and isolate ship interior from blast, fragmentation
- Provides highest missile availability after a hit
- Reduces single hit ship loss
- Maximizes crew survivability
- Provides greater flexibility in ship design
In addition to anti-air weapons such as ESSM and SM-2, the PVLS will house the land attack missiles necessary to reach targets beyond gun range and satisfy ORD requirements for deep strike.
